The experimental effects of a hydroxyapatite-containing dentifrice in human tooth surface

Abstract
The purpose of this study was two ; the first, to evaluate the comparative abrasiveness of root dentin after brushing the tooth surface with V-8 cross brushing machine and the second, to observe the changes of whiteness of human enamel surfaces with JX-777 spectroscopic analyzer after soaking the tooth specimen among experimental, control (anhydrous dicalcium phosphate, calcium pyrophosphate), Medi., Peri., Cli. and Whi. dentifrices. The obtained results were as followings ;
1. Comparative abrasively of experimental dentifrice to control on human root dentin was 51-55%.
2. The abrasively of experimental dentifrice on root dentin surface was higher than Medi. (42-45), Peri.(34-38).
3. Comparative abrasivity of experimental dentifrice to Cli., Whi. was 65 : 79 : 45.
4. The whiteness differences of enamel surface before and after tooth brushing with experimental dentifrice was 7.09 in W(Lab.), 13.63 in W(B) and color differences before and after application of experimental dentifrice was 2.13¡¾0.70 in W(Lab.), 3.82¡¾0.99 in W(B).
5. The effect of whiteness change of application by experimental dentifrices equal to HAP 5.0% solution.
